Welcome Visitors

Thank you for visiting the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Web site. If you would like to discover more, we invite you to join us for Sunday morning worship.

What to expect
FCC offers one Sunday worship service beginning at 10:15 a.m.

Parking
Parking is available in the parking lot at the church or street parking around the church is plentiful. There are two spaces marked for visitors. Additional parking can be found at our overflow parking lot on 5th Street. Turn left on 5th St., go through the 4 way stop at Herman Avenue. The lot will be on your right.

Handicap Parking
Handicap parking is available and is marked by signs. Our building is handicap accessible, with a elevette making all floors accessible. The elevette entrance is located at the front of the building with glass doors near the handicap accessible spaces.

Children in Worship
Children of all ages are welcome in worship. Children have a relationship with God and are valued members of God’s people. There are children’s bulletins available for use during the service. We do have a nursery staffed by a volunteer available for those little ones who might need it.

What to wear
The focus is not on what you wear; we want you to be comfortable and focused on worship. So please just come as you are. If you look around, you will see everything from business casual to suits to jeans, but the majority of our congregation dresses in business casual-wear.

Men generally wear the 3-button polo-style shirts or button-down shirts and Dockers-style pants, especially in summertime. Some men do wear suits. Women generally wear business casual dresses, pants or skirts. Young people wear school clothes or church casual.

What to expect when you come in the door
You will be welcomed by one of our greeters, who will give you a bulletin and guide you to the worship service. If you have children accompanying you, be sure to pick up one of the children’s bulletins, which offer activity sheets for use during the service. We also have a nursery staffed by a faithful volunteer for those who desire it.

For your convenience
Hearing aids and large-print hymnals and bulletins are available. Please ask a greeter if you are in need of either of these items.

What type of worship service to expect
Our worship is a traditional-style worship led by congregational members and the pastors. Music will include hymns and songs sung together as well as instrumental pieces on the organ. The pastor will offer a sermon. There will also be a time of sharing prayer requests, as well as an offering and the Lord’s Supper.

The Lord’s Supper
The Lord’s Supper is observed weekly in Disciples of Christ churches. Everyone is welcome to celebrate communion.  Communion is usually served by our deacons and delivered to you as you remain in your seat. The deacon will pass you both the cup and the bread. You may partake of the bread when you are served and the cup as you desire, following a time of silent prayer.
